| 内容記述 | 大手前大学では初年次必修科目にて、新聞コラムを読み、それに対しての自身の意見を述べる課題が課されている。本研究は、そこでの学生のメディア・リテラシーの現状を整理し、その向上のための方法を模索することを目的とする。まず、学生の新聞コラム課題の取り組みへの参与観察をもとに学生のメディア・リテラシーを素描し、批判的な読みをするにあたって彼／彼女らが抱える困難について述べる。次に、この困難さが何に起因するのかを明らかにするために、批判的談話分析の手法を用い、新聞コラムにおいて提示されている「事実」がどのような言語的資源によって自然化されているかを示す。尖閣諸島領土問題に関するコラムをとりあげ、評価的語彙、TRANSITIVITY system、名詞化の分析から、そこで善き我らが日本と悪しき彼ら中国というイデオロギー的布陣が談話的にいかに構築されているかを明らかにする。最後に、分析を踏まえ、メディア・リテラシー向上のための言語使用への反省的な眼差しの重要性を説く。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Otemae University requires all of the first-year students to read newspaper editorials and write their opinions against them as a homework assignment in a compulsory class. This study aims to illustrate the students' media literacy and explore how their media literacy could be enhanced. First, it is investigated how the students have read the newspaper editorials. Based on the participant observation of their engagement in the assignment, it addresses what difficulties they have faced when reading it actively and critically. Second, in order to illuminate what causes the difficulties in the critical reading, it is analysed how ‘facts’ depicted in a newspaper editorial is naturalized as they are. Drawing on critical discourse analysis, it examines an editorial on the territorial dispute over the Senkaku islands (in Japanese) in terms of lexical choice, TRANSITIVITY system and nominalizatoin. The analysis demonstrates how the ideological square, the polarity between good Japanese (us) and evil Chinese (them), is linguistically and discursively constructed in the editorial. Lastly, based on the analysis, the importance of reflexively examining language use for critical reading, therefore enhancing media literacy, is addressed. | |||||||||
