The specific course dealt with in the following pages is entitled “Tsugaru Literature, Local Literature,” and is tailored to engage students with literature and history particularly relevant to Aomori Prefecture; the methodological framework it employs, however, is adaptable to a wider variety of mixed-language instructional environments. The course introduces both literary works by local authors, and touches on theoretical questions about issues including canonization, language standardization, and the construction of place. The multi-lingual element is designed to foster interdependence and interaction between Japanese and English native speakers in the class when applicable, and otherwise to serve students of mixed linguistic abilities at multiple levels. Emphasis on close-reading short poetic works, provided with parallel textual translations, is intended to build upon several key TEFL concepts: close reading as a way to foster active participation and learning, strategic discussion of poetry and translation in order to cultivate tolerance of ambiguity, and treating literature as a performative medium appropriate for stimulating multimodal learning.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":" SOLOMON, Joshua"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"2461","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2018-05-08"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"symposium_09_p95-104.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"171.7 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"Content and Language Integrated Course Design","url":"https://otemae.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2045/files/symposium_09_p95-104.pdf"},"version_id":"a29b8fd7-5689-434e-8574-4b4c24978faf"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"poetry","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"tolerance of ambiguity","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"TEFL","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"conference paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_5794"}]},"item_title":"Content and Language Integrated Course Design: “Tsugaru Literature, Local Literature”","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Content and Language Integrated Course Design: “Tsugaru Literature, Local Literature”","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10003","owner":"23","path":["199"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2018-05-08"},"publish_date":"2018-05-08","publish_status":"0","recid":"2045","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Content and Language Integrated Course Design: “Tsugaru Literature, Local Literature”"],"weko_creator_id":"23","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-23T12:42:01.389841+00:00"}
